Hey,
Happy Sunday and for those of you that celebrate it Happy Easter! Yesterday my daughter did her very first Easter egg hunt.
Which turned into mom and dad pointing at the eggs and her picking them up.
We are getting there…
I hope you’re staying safe and getting the chance to work on some fun projects. The goal of this newsletter is to send the cool stuff I’m finding each week from the maker community. If you find something I’d love to know it, just send it my way!
🤧 April is a month of dust collecting. I’ve partnered with Rockler to giveaway their Dust Right Wall-Mount Dust Collector. The thing is pretty awesome and will make a great addition to your shop.
You can earn a bunch of extra entries after signing up so get on it!

🛠 Lasers seem to be a pretty common trend for me lately. I just released my review on the ORTUR Laser Master V2. I’ve done a review of the first version that you can check out here.
If you want to get into lasers this is an awesome option for around $200. It’s not going to win any awards for cutting but does a great job at engraving. The biggest difference for this version compared to V1 is the size, the work area can more than handle cutting board sized objects.
I make no apologies about how big of a Star Wars fan I am. I just got the massive box set of Ralph McQuarrie’s concept art for my birthday. So anytime I see people making stuff from the Star Wars world I get excited.
🐣Baby Yoda was everywhere after season 1 of The Mandalorian came out last fall. Lots of people have made 3D Prints, digital sculpts and even molds and casts of him. But one of my favorites is a puppet.
Adam Kreutinger (a past podcast guest) is documenting his process over on Instagram and it is already shaping up to be awesome. If Baby Yoda was a Muppet, he would fit right in.
⛑The second most popular thing from The Mandalorian was his helmet. The Broken Nerd (podcast guest) just finished up painting one from his own digital sculpt and it looks great!
👨🏭And last but not least Matt Schwartz (also a podcast guest…I’m noticing a theme..) has made what is probably the most real version of the armor out there. His is made from aluminum and is amazing. Matt’s day job is a welder and fabricator for top fuel dragsters. So he uses a real nice tricked out shop to create his cosplay.
So I promise this isn’t going to turn into an update about Coronavirus, I know you're getting that from all over. I do want to hit on a couple of the interesting things I’ve found as a result of us all staying home.
📺You might be binging your favorite show again (we are deep into The Office and Breaking Bad). This chart posted on Reddit gives the ranking per episode for the entire series of your favorite shows. Some are consistently great (Breaking Bad) others are all over the place (Star Trek: TNG).
🖥You're also spending more time on the internet. Glimpse is a paid service that gives you upcoming trends based off of internet searches (kind of like a predictive Google Trends). They have a free page that lists consumer impact trends from COVID-19.
🎥Speaking of TikTok getting on video is a pretty daily occurrence for most of us with a huge upswing in Livestreaming. Every time I get on Instagram I see lots of live bubbles in the story section.
If you want to step up your live-streaming set up, one of my favorite audio/video reviewers on YouTube is Curtis Judd. This is his setup, granted it’s overkill for most of us.
Here are a few live streams that I’ve got coming up this week. I might be going live with a build in my shop as well. Stay tuned!
4/13 12:00 pm - Making all the Things with Zac Builds
🏠Zac is a professional contractor and an overall awesome maker. We will get into his past projects and the amazing job he does of capturing them and sharing them online. **This one got rescheduled from last week.**
4/14 2:00 pm - LEGO Masters with Boone Langford
🏗Boone is a finalist in the current season of LEGO Masters on Fox. I LOVE the show and Boone and Mark are my favorite team by a LEGO mile. We will get into what it’s like to be on the show as well as going deep into his LEGO builds.
I plan to put a good bit more work into making the Makerspace Weekly something useful for you. If you’re are finding value I’d love it if you share it with a friend or two. You can send them here to sign up.
Also if you come across anything interesting let me know, just hit reply to this newsletter to send it my way.
Till Next Time
Go Make or Break something in your shop,
-Brandon
