Happy Star Wars Day (May 4th)!
It's the unofficial holiday for Star Wars and there are tons of Star Wars related projects getting posted today. We won't have any specific ones this week but there are still some amazing builds.
Let's get to it.
🎙One of the surprise hits from my TV watching adventures recently was LEGO Masters. The show wrapped up a few weeks back and I just had Boone Langston on who made it to the finals with his partner Mark. On the podcast, we get into all things LEGO, what it was like to build on TV and tips for anyone to take their builds to the next level.
Check out the interview here.
Recently David Picciuto shared a great video about the Monobloc chair. I guarantee you've seen this chair and/or currently have one in your house or office.
The video gets into the chair's history as well as how it became so ubiquitous. Plus is this an example of good or bad design?
🍒Raspberry Pie just put out a camera module that allows you to attach interchangeable lenses to a Raspberry Pie and take 12-megapixel pictures. I'm already dreaming of ways I could incorporate a fairly cheap overhead rig to my shop by hacking one of these together.
📸Back in the world of normal cameras you might be dealing with tons of SD cards. Here is a great project on making a laser-cut safety tool holder for them.
🎮There was one build that made the rounds in the geek circles this week. It's Andrew Guevara's wooden Game Boy. Not only does it look amazing but it works! You should check it out for the sizzle reel alone.
🦜And speaking of David Picciuto he just made every bird in the world jealous with his birdhoues build. I love how he went to the next level for the detailing he did on this birdhouse!
🤯If you are a woodworker there a good chance you've built a cutting board. There's an even better chance you seen at least 543 different versions of roughly the same cutting board on Instagram. I bet you've haven't seen anything quite Nik's CNC inlay cutting boards. Mind blown.
🎲With all the time at home maybe you've gotten more into board games. Here is a great video on creating dice from molds with When Geeks Craft. Plus they give a great overview of pressure pots and vacuum chambers.
Alright, I can't leave you completely empty of Star Wars content for May the 4th. Disney Plus not only released The Rise of Skywalker today but they started an awesome behind the scenes series that focuses on The Mandalorian!
