Hey!
I hope your week is off to a great start. Each week I want to send you some of the best stuff I’m finding in the maker world. And this week I’ve decided to officially call it the Makerspace Weekly.
Moving forward not only will you get updates from my shop but also the cool projects, people and tools I run across each week.
If you are working on something fun be sure and send it my way so I can feature it in the future!
Before jumping into the links I wanted to share a quick WIP I’ve got going. I want to get into clay sculpting and finally got some supplies in the shop.
I’ve got a long way to go but this (not baby) Yoda bust is starting to take shape.
🎧 This month we’ve partnered with Isotunes to giveaway a pair of their PRO 2.0 Bluetooth noise isolating earbuds. The giveaway ends today (4/1) at 11.59 pm EST so make sure and enter for a chance to win.
Enter to win a pair of ISOtunes Pro 2.0 headphones here.
🤖 I recently had Ben Myers on the podcast to talk about all things CNC, 3D Printing and lasers. If you like the type of projects I do then you’ll love Ben’s stuff. We basically are the same...just separated by a few states. He has a C02 laser as well, bigger than mine with a great video review on it.
I’m sure your drowning in information about COVID-19. While the majority of the news is bad it has been amazing to see the rise of the maker community and how people with tools like 3D printers and laser cutters are coming to aid of hospitals.
👩⚕️In a podcast coming out later this week I chatted with Matt Stultz of Prusa 3D. We get into the free 3D models of face shields that Prusa has made avallable and the communities that are organizing to print them around the world. The episode isn’t live on the podcast feed yet but you can check out the unedited live stream version we did on YouTube here.
Here are a few other great resources if you want to get involved:
🌲When things are crazy it’s always interesting to see the people that turn a negative into a positive. With everyone pretty much stuck inside Arbortech is taking the idea of an in-person conference online with the Global MakerFest.
This looks to be a pretty fun event coming this Friday and Saturday. Plus they are featuring some past podcast guests like Jimmy Diresta, Michael Alm and Paul Jackman.
Even if you can’t make it into the shop there is still tons of great proejcts people are building online.
👨🏫 The team over at I Like to Make Stuff put out a new series this week called Shop Class. Bob takes his kids through a series of lessons as they build some fun projects. A really cool way to get your kids involved with making!
📺 I’m probably a little late to the game but my family has been loving LEGO Masters. This is by far my favorite game show style building competition on mainstream TV. What these guys are building is nuts, and Will Arnett is an awesome host!
My plan is to put a good bit more work into making the Makerspace Weekly something useful for you. If you’re are finding value I’d love it if you share it with a friend or two. You can send them here to sign up.
Also if you come across anything interesting let me know, just hit reply to this newsletter to send it my way.
Till Next Time
Go Make or Break something in your shop,
-Brandon
P.S. Tiger King is nuts right? If you don't want to hassle with a live tiger here is a fun way add one to your room in AR.
